Welcome from the Wardens

First of all, sincere congratulations on gaining a place at Imperial College London. Imperial is one of world’s most prestigious colleges and you should feel proud of having earned this opportunity.

On behalf of the Pembridge Gardens wardening team, I am writing to welcome you, to provide some information about your new home and give you instructions as to when to arrive.

The wardening team consists of The Warden, Assistant Warden and two Subwardens. We are all members of staff or postgraduate students at Imperial and our primary function in the hall is to offer support and advice with any issues that you encounter in coming to study at Imperial and live in London. We are here for you and because of you – so feel free to drop in for a chat at any time. The Wardens are assisted by the Hall Seniors – students selected to stay in halls for another year – in organizing parties, other social activities and with the day-to-day running of the Hall.

Now, a few important details about your arrival. You should aim to arrive:

10am – 5pm on Saturday 1st October 2011
30 Pembridge Gardens, London W2 4DX

We will be there to hand you your keys and show you to your room. Unfortunately, we will not be able to accept early arrivals. On the other hand, if you cannot arrive until after 5pm on Saturday, you must inform us immediately or else your room may be reallocated to another student.

We very much look forward to meeting you soon!

Useful information

College Photo ID Cards

All Imperial students and staff have a photo ID card. It will be programmed so that you have access to Pembridge (your home!), your department, the sports centre, library etc. To save you from the mindnumbing tedium of queuing to get your photo taken during Freshers’ week, you must submit a photo of yourself before you arrive. Your card will be waiting for you when you arrive at Pembridge.

To begin, visit this site for more information, http://www.imperial.ac.uk/students/newstudents/yourfirstweek/collegeidcard

Insurance policy

Pembridge is a secure and safe environment but opportunistic thefts do occur in Halls of Residence. You (or more likely your Mum and Dad) will probably want to know more about the options for insurance. Well look no further! Ask them to read this, Endsleigh Block Policy Summary 2011-12 (180kB).
